Zia ur Rehman, born in Quetta in 1969, is a mathematician turned social & human rights activist since his young age when he founded, AwazCDS-Pakistan in 1995. He won the global partnership scholarship in 1996 and studied Leadership & Management at Centre for Development Management, BRAC Bangladesh and School for International Training (SIT), Vermont USA with a specialization on strategic planning, management & development.

He also won the scholarship from Canadian International Development Agency to study Social Enterprise Development with a specialization on Managing Peoples’ Organizations from Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). He works for the socio-economic development and political empowerment of young people and women. He is well known as development advocate and lobbyist, civil and political rights activist, writer and poet in the development sector especially in Asia and around the globe. He has conceived and conducted many studies on women, girls and young peoples’ rights in Pakistanhttp://awazcds.org.pk/category/publications/research-studies/

He has also served as board member of Punjab Government’s Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) during 2014-18. He has carried out the citizens’ led monitoring mechanism to report on Voluntary National Review of SDGs in Pakistan, for the facilitation of Planning Commission of Pakistan http://pda.net.pk/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Citizens-Voices-Report-2019.pdf. His work on sustainable development is not only recognized by concerned stakeholders including governments & parliamentarians at national level but also at regional and global level particularly United Nations. He was nominated and remained one of the finalists for Nelson Mandela Graca Michael Innovation Awards 2016 against his struggles for youth engagement in democratic process and restoration of local governance in Pakistan. He also led the Leave No One Behind Campaign for the implementation of SDGs in Pakistan, the campaign was among the finalists of SDG Actions Award in 2018. Ms. Huma Aziz is associated with the Development Sector from last 9 years and currently performing her responsibilities in AwazCDS Pakistan as Manager Monitoring Evaluation Accountability Learning & Human Resource and Institutional Development. She is also Focal Point of Pakistan Development Alliance National Secreteriate. Ms. Huma Aziz is associated with AwazCDS since 2012 and she has served under different capacities in the management of the programs.

During her employment career with the organization, she has been managing different Projects on women and youth health rights with special focus on their reproductive health rights.  She has experience of project reporting, financial management, conducting sensitization sessions with students and communities on early age marriages, gender based violence. She has also expertise in designing community and media campaigns, conducting teachers training on Life Skills Based Education and HIV/AIDS, developing IEC material, trainings of CSOs and Citizens on Counter Violent extremisms, engagement of youth groups and youth networks, volunteer management, building linkages with partner organizations, line Departments and policy makers.

In her recent role as Manager MEAL & HID, she is responsible to support multi-functional team and develop, recommend and monitor program’s implementation. She also contributes in the development of monitoring tools, frameworks and due diligence and performance assessment process of the partners. She facilitates the evaluation and monitoring mechanism of the project/program in accordance with the requirement of organization. She also contributes in the development of survey questionnaires and methodologies related to the SDGs campaigns of the organization. She also assist management in the due diligence process of the organizations by externals or donors. She works in close coordination with finance unit and provides required assistance in the external audit process.

She is also managing the Human Resource section of the organization where she is managing all the recruitment process of staff, consultants and other HR related matters.

As a focal point of Pakistan Development Alliance, she manages the interventions and campaigns related to the SDGs, remains in close coordination with Pakistan Development Alliance members. She is managing the Alliance by inviting new partners for the membership, engaging members as per their expertise, organizing their meetings and sharing the relevant updates and information to keep all members engaged in the Alliance.

p4Sayed Saghir Hussain Bukhari, is a well-known educationalist, social worker and philanthropist of the District Muzaffarabad. So far his entire life revolves around helping and caring for the vulnerable and marginalized individuals and communities to cope with challenges in their lives, such as providing them with vocational trainings, establishing the community model schools and handling the natural disasters.

Being the president and CEO of Area Development Organization, to his credit lies the honor of mobilizing and organizing 220 male and female groups in the form of Community Organizations and providing vocational trainings to 1215 men and women in the remote areas of Kaimnaja, Hattian Dupatta and Langur Pura Union Councils of District Muzaffarabad AJK.

In addition to that he completed several infrastructure schemes, renewable energy projects (solar), micro-finance and livelihood programs and played a very active and dynamic role during the relief and rehabilitation activities in District Muzaffarabad, both during the 2005 Earthquake and 2010 flood.

Mr. Raja Iftikhar Ahmed Khan is the Head of Program with Area Development Organization (ADO). He is truly a social icon in his community who has been actively and passionately working in the development sector for last 20 years.

With his good networking /linkages and exposure both at National and International level, he was successfully able to attract local and international funding for his community in particular and for District  Muzaffarabad in general in the areas of  disaster, rehabilitation, micro-finance and civil works (roads and streets). He has excellent working exposure with donors at every level such as Government, INGOs and local Organizations. At his disposal, he has the successful completion of numerous projects where he delivered remarkable performance and achieved great results as Project Manager. His efforts were always cherished and admired both at the community level and District level. Now he has established himself as a well-known social personality on the horizon of AJK development sector.
Besides being the co-founder and head of ADO, his current positions include the Chairperson of National Humanitarian Network AJK Chapter/ Pakistan Development Alliance AJK Chapter. He has a great exposure at AJK level in emergency responses, namely; Earthquake of October 2005, Flood of 2010/11, during many local disasters. Currently he is playing a very active and dynamic role to keep the local community well aware of up-to-date developments of the current global pandemic, i.e. COVID-19.

Over the years, Mr. Iftikhar has conducted numerous seminars, trainings and workshops in the areas of Disaster Management, Relief & Rehabilitation Programs, Gender equality, Micro-finance etc. He has also given various interviews as a successful project manager and a distinguished social worker to the several newspapers. His also a great and highly sought after resource person and training facilitator both at local and AJK level.

Mr. Pervez Iqbal is a senior and experienced social figure of Balochistan with Twenty Eight (28) years of experience in Development/Humanitarian sector in leadership and managerial domain. Working as a Women right activist and Development manager. Started her career as free-lance journalist (writing on women, youth and political issues) and High school teacher in Lahore American School. Joined Development sector in 2001 and since then is actively involved in advocacy and implementation of pro women legislation.

She is currently working in HomeNet Pakistan as Executive Director and looking after the network all over Pakistan. She is also an Ex  Member of the Punjab Commission on the status of women (PCSW) and also represent Pakistan at HomeNet south Asia.

Predominantly working across Pakistan for women in informal economy specifically home based, domestic sector and informal workers; she is explicitly engaged in Regional , national and provincial advocacy , education and development of  the membership based organizations, strengthening the capacities of women in informal economy; economic empowerment , Sustainable development goals , pro women and labour legislation , leadership development and enterprise and business  development for creating voice and visibility of the invisible work force.

In 2012 she was honored by The International Alliance for Women “TIAW World of Difference 2012” award in recognition of her contribution for the informal sector workers. In 2016 she was awarded the global   “women economic empowerment and leadership award 2016 by Oxfam”.

Ume Laila is a cross sectoral gender and labour inclusion expert and policy researcher with about 20 years of experience in the development sector. She has worked extensively  on developing gender strategies for inclusion of informal economy women into the main stream labour dynamics , extensively involved in the research based policy advocacy, lobbying strategies , evaluating development projects , conducting social audits , programmatic due diligence , designing education and training programmes for national, international NGOs and alliances and development of implementation of frameworks for government .Directly involved in reviewing laws and policies specifically pertaining to women and labour .

Closely working with government departments of labour and human resource, women development and planning and development across Pakistan; is also involved in developing frameworks for the women related laws ensuring their implementation.

Muhammad Tahir Iqbal Malik is a prominent Human Rights and Legal Aid Advocate. He has done LLM in social legislation from Karachi University. He has developed policy papers in the field of strengthening the rule of law, improving criminal justice system, and legal aid, women and children rights in Pakistan.

He has also developed training manuals and capacity building resources for women legal-socio-economic empowerment, women lawyers, judiciary, prosecution and police. He is devoted for the promotion and protection of women, children, minorities, transgender and person with disabilities rights. He is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Legal Rights Forum since June 1, 2007. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including Human Rights Activist Award from Govt. of Pakistan which recognizes those who have made extraordinary contributions to the cause of human rights, rule of law and good governance. Muhammad Anis Danish has been involved in the social development sector since 1987. He is a development professional engaged in capacity building of civil society organizations, research, project proposal writing, monitoring and evaluation and conducts interactive sessions on contemporary issues faced by development practitioners.

He has contributed in socio economic and prosperity of the low income communities including rural development, organizational development, i.e., governance in nonprofits, board development, strategic planning, policy development and enhancement of organizations’’ performance. Since, he has experience working with donor/support organizations therefore he developed strong network in all over Pakistan that is considered one of his strengthens. Developed Training Manual for Capacity Building of CBOs/Mohallah Committees to address Counter Violent Extremism and conducted three-day training for community members.

Capacity Building of Community Based Organizations: Under the project “Capacity Building of Civil Society Organizations”, implemented by Legal Rights Forum, he identified gaps for institutional development in the context of registration and structure with government in existing legal framework.
Consultant for Capacity Building: Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) for “Access to Information” funded by Deutsch Welle for capacity building media staff and research for unified code of conduct, developed training manuals and check lists on physical, digital, personal safety and code of ethics for Journalists working in conflict zone. Further he also compiled booklet “Safety Guidebook for Journalists and Media Persons” and Unified Code of Conducts for Media Persons and Institutions.
He as independent consultant developed project proposal and monitoring tools for Daily Awami Awaz’s project “Impact of Print Media on Society – Writing Can Influence” supported by Internews.
Previously, he worked as Program Officer CSOs Capacity Building at Assessment and Strengthening Program implemented by Associates in Development (ASP-AiD). At ASP-AiD, he is responsible to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders– including individuals and institutions and contribute to the development of various reports as and when required by the USAID and/or ASP management.
He also worked for Muslim Aid UK as Provincial Coordinator – Sindh for one year, where he led the team for project implementation and conducted social economic studies in Sindh and Balochistan. He joined Civil Society Resource Center (CSRC/NGORC) A project of Aga Khan Foundation in May 2001 where he was responsible to implement HUM QADAM Project (for capacity building of CSOs) in Pakistan which is comprised of Karachi, Badin, Gwadar, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Chitral and Ghanche.
In 2012 he conducted research on Civil Society Organizations’ Sustainability Index, supported by AKF USA and technically assisted by MSI. Through this project number of CSOs invited and discussed, rated sustainability of CSOs following by seven dimensions. Recently the team formed again for CSOSI conducted this study for the year 2012. He also liaisons with civil society organizations, organizes issue-based discussion forums, he conducts diagnostic surveys for capacity building for the organization.
Earlier he worked as Program Officer at Trust for Voluntary Organizations. He worked with Urban Resource Center (URC) as Assistant Coordinator. He has worked with Raasta Development Consultant and in Orangi Pilot Project (OPP).
He holds Master’s Degree in Sociology from University of Sindh. He has participated in various professional development programs. He attended training in Jordon organized by MSI for developing sustainability index. He attended number of workshops on Leadership & NGO Excellence, Strategic Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Gender Analysis of Civil Society etc. for his professional development organized by well reputed and professional organizations.
He compiled booklets on Safety Guidebook for journalists and editors and Governance for Non Profit and wrote articles on projects managements for NGORC Journals. He is Executive Council Member of Urban Resource Center. He had been the Focal person of Karachi Chapter of Human Resource Development Network (HRDN). He is executive member of Health And Nutrition Development Society (HANDS). He is Honorary Finance Secretary of Women’s Development Foundation Pakistan (WDFP).
He was awarded Performance Award for the year 2005 in NGORC which is the project of Aga Khan Foundation. His outstanding contribution was recognized by Lyari Community Development Project therefore he was given recognition shield.
